My growing pet fire ant colony, called the Phoenix Empire (scientifically known as Solenopsis geminata), is bigger and more complex than ever! In just 7 weeks, the queen has amassed an army of fire ant workers and a massive pile of brood. In this episode, we embark on a tour of this increasingly complex ant society, feed them, explore the colony’s new specialized workers, and even make a moving discovery of a special “site” that the ants have created.
